Join us for a critical exploration of GenAI in language education!
While AI tools can boost writing scores, research shows that they may diminish student creativity, agency, and independent thinking. Dr. Paiz will guide participants beyond the “to use or not to use” debate to explore practical strategies that transform GenAI from a crutch into a true collaborator.
Learn “human-in-the-loop” frameworks that ensure AI augments—rather than replaces—learners’ critical thinking and personal voice.
Dr. Paiz is co-author of Artificial Intelligence, Real Teaching – A Guide to AI in ELT (University of Michigan Press, 2025), and author of Collaborative AI: Artificial Intelligence, Expertise, & Pedagogy in CALL Research & Practice (Equinox, forthcoming 2026).
This event is the first in a three-part winter series on Integrating AI in Language Education: Research-Based Practices to Support the Modes of Communication.
Live attendees can earn a certificate for 1.5 CE hours and request a digital badge.
