Currently under development, this project has created FREE resources that offer authentic materials to examine contemporary social issues in India, touching upon linguistic provisions, cultural diversity and more. Our aim is to empower the learner with the language skills to discuss these essential topics from diverse perspectives. The materials are being developed by Dr. Jieun Ryu (Assistant Professor of Practice, University of Arizona), Dr. Poonam Chauhan (Continuing Lecturer in the Middle East / South Asia Studies program, University of California Davis), and Srijeet Mukherjee (Hindi Language Consultant, Fulbright FLTA 2017-2018).
New in 2025: Intermediate and Advanced language-learning materials are now available!
The new materials consist of engaging units that include detailed lesson plans to seamlessly integrate the resources into in-person classes, accompanied by carefully curated worksheets. These valuable support to educators and enhance the learning experience for students.
The elementary language level was completed in 2024: it includes Devanagari typing instruction, five individual lessons, and an instructor guide. The guide offers detailed lesson plans utilizing the published lessons with a critical inquiry approach for classroom discussions, equipping instructors with the tools to seamlessly integrate them into their classrooms. They are intended to facilitate meaningful classroom discussions around the selected topics, fostering engagement, and nurturing transformative learning experiences for students.
