The half-time Communication and Social Media Assistant position is a Graduate Research Assistant for the 2023-2024 academic year, for which University of Arizona graduate students can apply. The position will be shared equally by the Title VI centers at the UArizona: the Center for East Asian Studies (CEAS), the Center for Educational Resources in Culture, Language and Literacy (CERCLL), the Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) and the Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES).

The new hire will work with the media presence of all centers, working with UA News, local newspapers, and other online media outlets. Their responsibilities will include creating and editing videos, writing news articles, website updates on current Center events and public resources, updating the Centers’ social media strategies to expand the Centers’ presence (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube), and creating advertising materials including flyers, brochures, social media graphics, etc. Attention to detail is essential in this position. The GA will also assist with newsletters and email-marketing. The GA for Communications/Social Media will report to the CMES Associate Director who will coordinate workflow with the Associate Director of CERCLL and the Outreach Directors of the Center for East Asian Studies and the Center for Latin American Studies. 

This is a 0.5 FTE academic year position for a graduate student enrolled at the University of Arizona in a field related to journalism, marketing, or international education, who is not graduating during the 2023-24 Academic Year. The position may be renewable for a year upon satisfactory performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

 Two years experience with social media marketing for an organization, or academic department.

 Experience with the Adobe Suite including video editing using Adobe Premier Pro.

 Basic experience editing WordPress and/or Drupal websites, and with marketing design software, preferably InDesign.

 Background in multilingual and/or multicultural education.
