CERCLL is Inviting applications from University of Arizona faculty for the 2020 CERCLL Research Fellow grants.

Deadline to Apply extended to May 1, 2020

The CERCLL Faculty Fellows program promotes scholarly work connected to the mission of CERCLL as a Title VI National Language Resource Center, i.e., to research and develop the teaching of culture, language and literacy, especially within less commonly taught languages. In 2020, we particularly invite proposals focused upon research related to online or hybrid teaching, and seed grant proposals, but other projects will be considered as well.

These awards provide up to $5,000 to tenured/tenure-eligible and career-track faculty at the University of Arizona. Funds may be used for most justifiable purposes excluding faculty salary/supplemental compensation, travel not associated with the execution of the project, and course-related expenses. Some of the funding must be applied to student work. Additional guidelines for budgets are on CERCLL’s website, and applicants should also refer to the University of Arizona’s guidelines in relation to COVID-19 with respect to the nature of proposed work and travel.

2020 Research Fellows will create resources based on their project that will be shared within the CERCLL community. These may include: sample classroom materials, a white paper or teacher manual; a webinar; a presentation in the SLAT Colloquium series.

See the complete application guidelines for more information about applicant eligibility, the kinds of projects that are encouraged (including links to materials created by CERCLL Fellows funded in the past), and the application process.

The application deadline for awards to be made for work taking place in Summer/Fall 2020 has been extended to May 1, 2020.
