A new website has been created for a CERCLL project by Mahmoud Azaz (University of Arizona). These resources are intended for Arabic instructors at the K-12 and college levels, who are teaching Intermediate language classes. The project was co-sponsored by the Center for Middle Eastern Studies and the Graduate College at the University of Arizona.
The Tasks for Linguistic Complexity in Arabic website is designed to help teachers to facilitate the enhancement of learner linguistic complexity–to aid students in creating and sequencing language that is lexically more diverse and syntactically more complex.
Well-designed language tasks are crucial to this kind of interaction, and they act as work-plans that scaffold learners to structure and sequence interaction. The resources created by Dr. Azaz include sample tasks that are aligned with language functions that are appropriate to the intermediate level, sample lesson plans that are aligned to these tasks, and sample recordings of teacher-learner interaction scenarios/episodes that show the strategic use of interaction.

In August 2023, Drs. Mahmoud Azaz and Hicham Assaoui led a two-hour workshop that demonstrated the use of the resources created by this project. The workshop was in Arabic and intended for Arabic instructors. The recording is here:
