Project Director: Dr. Beatrice Dupuy (U. Arizona) [In collaboration with CMES and Department of Russian and Slavic Studies]

Description: This project will provide teachers of intermediate-level FL students with a systematic way of integrating Global Simulation (GS) into their instruction with the goal of promoting language and culture learning and critical thinking to better prepare their students to become global citizens. GS provides integrated access to authentic input in the target language and culture and allows students to operate as if they were in the target culture. The outcomes of this project will consist of: a handbook full of text-centered tasks and a companion website. Materials for GS in Turkish and Russian have been developed and piloted; Chinese materials are currently in production.
